Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #6

Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #6 was published in 1984 as part of a groundbreaking twelve-issue limited series intended to cross-promote Marvel's new line of action figures with Mattel. Conceived by editor-in-chief Jim Shooter, the project served as a massive commercial venture to unite the company's most iconic heroes and villains on a patchwork planet called Battleworld. The plot was designed to satisfy toy market requirements, ensuring that the characters had a narrative justification for engaging in constant conflict.

The issue features artwork by Mike Zeck, who provided the series with a distinct, dynamic aesthetic that helped define the visual tone of 1980s superhero comics. Writing duties were handled by Jim Shooter, who focused on escalating the stakes of the conflict initiated by the Beyonder. While some contemporary critics viewed the series as a transparent marketing exercise, it is now widely recognized for successfully establishing the concept of the 'mega-event' in comic book history, leaving a lasting impact on how shared universes are structured.
