My Home Hero #24

My Home Hero, written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Masashi Asaki, began its serialization in Weekly Young Magazine in 2017. The series follows Tetsuo Tosu, a middle-aged salaryman who commits a murder to protect his daughter from her dangerous boyfriend, subsequently entering a high-stakes psychological battle with a crime syndicate. The narrative is noted for its tension-filled pacing and the subversion of typical thriller tropes, positioning an ordinary parent in extraordinary, often desperate, moral dilemmas.

Issue 24 represents a significant installment in the latter half of the series, reflecting the refined, gritty art style that Masashi Asaki developed to emphasize the grounded realism of the characters' plight. As the series progressed, it gained critical recognition for its intense focus on domestic protection and the harrowing consequences of criminal involvement. The manga has been well-regarded for its tight plotting and character development, eventually expanding into a broader media franchise including a live-action series and an anime adaptation.
