Nellie the Nurse #19

Nellie the Nurse was a long-running humor comic published by Marvel, appearing first during the 1940s and persisting into the late 1950s. The series focused on the slapstick adventures of a young nurse, utilizing the lighthearted, gag-oriented style common in mid-century romance and comedy comics. Issue #19 reflects the typical episodic nature of the series, where the narrative centered on workplace hijinks and romantic misunderstandings within a hospital setting.

The character and the series are largely attributed to the stable of artists and writers working under the Timely Comics umbrella, the precursor to modern Marvel. These stories were designed to provide accessible, episodic entertainment for a broad demographic of postwar readers. While not a cornerstone of Marvel's superhero legacy, the series is historically significant for showcasing the publisher's editorial flexibility during an era when romance, westerns, and humor titles often outsold cape-and-tights adventures.
