Where it came from
Published by DC Comics in 1970, Our Fighting Forces #130 represents a pivotal moment in the series as it began to shift away from traditional combat storytelling. Created in the wake of a changing cultural landscape regarding the Vietnam War, the issue maintains the series' long-standing focus on military grit while signaling a transition toward more character-driven narratives that would eventually lead to the iconic run of the Losers.
The issue features cover and interior work characteristic of the era's house style, emphasizing dynamic action and the visual language of mid-century war comics. While the creative team followed standard DC production practices of the period, the issue is noted by collectors for its place in the transitional arc of the series, reflecting how DC sought to maintain the relevance of its war titles during a period of declining interest in traditional combat-focused genre fiction.
