Our Fighting Forces #131

Our Fighting Forces #131, published by DC Comics in 1970, stands as a notable entry in the long-running war anthology series. During this era, the title became the home of the Losers, a recurring team of beleaguered soldiers consisting of Captain Storm, Gunner, Sarge, and Pooch. The transition to featuring the Losers reflected a broader shift in DC's war comics toward character-driven narratives that emphasized the camaraderie and tragedy of conflict rather than mere jingoistic heroism.

The issue features work indicative of the collaborative efforts common to DC's war titles of the Bronze Age, typically blending grit with the house style of the time. The series is frequently noted by historians for its creative longevity, having transitioned from stories centered on individual leads to the ensemble dynamic of the Losers under the guidance of creators like Robert Kanigher. It is regarded by collectors as a quintessential piece of a period when war comics began to explore the psychological toll of combat more deeply.
