Outre-Tombe Hors Serie #4

Outre-Tombe was a French fanzine dedicated to the exploration of horror, gothic literature, and cinematic macabre. The Hors-Série series served as special thematic supplements, providing deeper dives into specific sub-genres or iconic figures of the horror tradition. These issues were produced by enthusiasts for a niche audience of genre devotees, functioning as a bridge between underground cult fandom and academic interest in dark fiction.

The design of these special issues was characterized by a raw, DIY aesthetic typical of the 1980s and 1990s French fanzine scene, often utilizing high-contrast black and white photography, grainy film stills, and stark typography to complement the unsettling subject matter. While the contributors remained largely anonymous or known only within the close-knit community of collectors, their work was well-received by those seeking substantive analysis of horror media that remained largely ignored by mainstream publications of the era.
