Palooka-Ville #25

Palooka-Ville is a long-running, self-published comic series written and illustrated by Seth, the Canadian cartoonist known for his distinct, melancholic aesthetic and preoccupation with the history of the medium. Issue #25, released in the early 2010s, continues the author's tradition of blending personal introspection with fictional narratives, often utilizing a stark, monochromatic palette and bold, illustrative lines that evoke the graphic design sensibilities of the mid-20th century.

The series emerged from the independent comics boom of the 1990s and has since become a cornerstone of the alternative comics canon. Seth’s work on this title is frequently noted for its structural innovation and deliberate pacing, aiming to evoke a sense of quiet nostalgia and existential reflection. It has been critically received as a masterclass in the 'slice-of-life' genre, prized by collectors for the care put into its layout and the author’s consistent, unmistakable visual style.
