Pancho Villa: Monster Hunter #2

Pancho Villa: Monster Hunter was launched as a genre-bending independent comic series that reimagined the Mexican revolutionary leader as a supernatural fighter. Published in the mid-2010s, the series sought to blend historical fiction with pulp horror, placing the iconic general in scenarios where he battled mythical creatures and occult threats. This creative direction drew inspiration from long-standing traditions of Mexican folk horror and the pulp adventure comics popularized in the early 20th century.

The art and narrative approach were designed to lean into a gritty, action-oriented aesthetic, contrasting the grounded history of the Mexican Revolution with the fantastical elements of the monsters Villa encounters. Upon release, the series found a niche audience among readers who appreciated the creative historical revisionism, with issue number two continuing the established arc of the protagonist’s transition from a military leader to a defender against the macabre.
