Pokémon: The Electric Tale of Pikachu #4

Pokémon: The Electric Tale of Pikachu, including the fourth issue, was published by VIZ Media in 1998 as part of an effort to expand the Pokémon brand into the North American market through manga. The series was written and illustrated by Toshihiro Ono, whose creative mandate was to provide a distinct, slightly more mature interpretation of the anime’s premise while maintaining the core appeal of the franchise’s creatures.

This particular issue follows the series' established aesthetic, characterized by Ono's energetic, streamlined character designs and a narrative tone that balances lighthearted adventure with the serialized storytelling common in shonen manga. Upon release, the series was well-received by fans of the burgeoning Pokémon phenomenon, serving as a significant artifact of the late 1990s cross-media expansion that solidified the brand's lasting influence on pop culture.
