Preacher #13

Preacher issue 13 was published in 1996 by Vertigo, an imprint of DC Comics, as part of the acclaimed supernatural Western series created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon. This specific issue serves as a pivotal installment in the 'Until the End of the World' story arc, focusing on the dark, dysfunctional history of the protagonist Jesse Custer and his confrontation with his grandmother's fanatical organization in rural Texas. The series gained critical acclaim for its subversive blend of religious satire, violent action, and deeply flawed characters, cementing the creative team's reputation for pushing the boundaries of mainstream comic storytelling.

The visual identity of issue 13 maintains the raw, grounded aesthetic signature to Steve Dillon's work, characterized by expressive facial features and clear, functional panel layouts that contrast sharply with the surreal and often grotesque nature of the narrative. The cover art, consistent with the series' iconic style designed by Glenn Fabry, emphasizes the grim, atmospheric tone that defined the mid-nineties mature-audience comic market. Upon its release, the series was well-received by fans of the dark fantasy genre, eventually garnering a cult following that led to its long-term status as a seminal work in the Vertigo catalog.
