Psi-Lords #1

Psi-Lords #1 was published by Valiant Comics in 1994, emerging during a period of significant expansion and experimentation for the company. The series was designed to fit within the broader Valiant Universe, introducing a group of super-powered individuals who had been cryogenically preserved in space for centuries. This premise tapped into the ongoing science-fiction boom of the mid-1990s, aiming to offer a cosmic-scale narrative that differed from the more grounded, street-level superhero stories that defined much of the publisher's earlier success.

The creative direction for the series featured the work of writer Budd Lewis and artist Mike Vosburg, who sought to blend intricate character dynamics with a sprawling, mystery-driven plot. While the title was an ambitious effort to broaden the scope of the Valiant imprint, it was released during a volatile time in the direct market comics industry. The series is often remembered by collectors as a quintessential example of mid-90s cosmic superhero storytelling, reflecting the bold visual sensibilities and complex, sometimes dense, world-building characteristic of that era.
