Where it came from
Psi-Lords #7 was published in 1994 as part of the Valiant Comics 'Second Life' era. The series was designed as a space-faring adventure within the established Valiant Universe, focusing on a group of amnesiac individuals who discover they possess god-like psionic powers. This specific issue arrived during a tumultuous time for the publisher, as the company navigated the shifting landscape of the mid-1990s comic book industry and faced internal restructuring.
The series was characterized by its ambitious, high-concept science fiction approach, utilizing the talents of creators such as writer Mike Baron. The aesthetic leaned into the bold, kinetic art style prevalent in 1990s superhero titles, often prioritizing dramatic panel compositions to match the cosmic scale of the narrative. While it maintains a dedicated following among collectors of the Valiant imprint, it is often viewed as a representative example of the bold, experimental storytelling the company pursued before its acquisition by Acclaim Entertainment.
