Red Sonja: She-Devil with a Sword #4

Red Sonja: She-Devil with a Sword #4 was published by Dynamite Entertainment in 2005 as part of a highly successful relaunch of the character. This series sought to modernize the Hyborian warrior, drawing inspiration from Robert E. Howard’s original literary concepts while adapting the character for a contemporary comic book audience. The creative team aimed to ground the fantasy elements in a gritty, high-stakes narrative that emphasized the protagonist's autonomy and combat prowess.

The interior art was provided by Michael Avon Oeming and Mel Rubi, with the issue being particularly notable for its variety of high-profile cover artists, including industry luminaries like Alex Ross and Michael Turner. Upon its release, the series was well-received for its polished production values and its ability to re-establish Red Sonja as a formidable lead in the sword-and-sorcery genre. It became a flagship title for Dynamite Entertainment, cementing the publisher's presence in the market and leading to numerous subsequent volumes and spin-offs.
