R.R.H. #1

R.R.H. #1 serves as the inaugural entry in the R.R.H. series, a small-press comic project that emerged during a period of experimentation within independent underground illustration. The series was developed as a stylized, contemporary reimagining of the Red Riding Hood folklore, intentionally stripping away traditional children's book aesthetics in favor of a darker, more graphic narrative voice. The creators sought to subvert classic tropes by focusing on atmospheric tension and minimalist line work rather than conventional fairy tale optimism.

Upon its release, the issue was primarily circulated through independent comic shops and niche underground conventions. It was received by the small press community as a deliberate artistic exercise in revisionist storytelling. Because it originated from a limited independent printing, the design emphasizes stark monochromatic panels and heavy ink usage, reflecting the constraints and creative freedom typical of early independent publishing efforts at the time of its production.
