Where it came from
R.R.H. #2 emerged as part of a niche underground comic series that explored dark, subversive retellings of classic fairy tale tropes. Produced during a period of heightened interest in alternative press and gritty reinterpretations of folklore, the series aimed to strip away the sanitized versions of bedtime stories in favor of psychological tension and stark, minimalist illustration styles.
The creative direction focused on a blend of noir aesthetics and visceral character studies. While the series remains a cult item within the independent comics community, it is often cited by collectors for its commitment to a specific tone that eschews traditional heroic arcs. Reception at the time of its release was limited to a small but dedicated readership that appreciated the divergence from mainstream genre conventions.
