Saint Young Men #10

Saint Young Men, or 'Saint Onii-san', is a popular manga series by Hikaru Nakamura that first began serialization in 2006. The series is defined by its surreal and gentle premise, which follows Jesus and Gautama Buddha as they share a cramped apartment in Tachikawa while taking a vacation on Earth. By the time the tenth volume was released, the series had firmly established itself as a staple of the seinen demographic, celebrated for its unique ability to blend religious iconography with mundane, observational humor about modern Japanese life.

The design and tone of the tenth volume continue Nakamura's signature style, characterized by clean line work and expressive, deadpan character illustrations. Her intent was to treat these historical and religious figures as relatable, ordinary roommates, focusing on the friction between their supernatural backgrounds and the trivial inconveniences of everyday consumer culture. The series has been widely praised by critics for its respectful, lighthearted approach, which avoids controversy by grounding its humor in genuine human warmth rather than satire.
