Sam Slade Robo-Hunter #13

Robo-Hunter debuted in the pages of the British science fiction anthology 2000 AD in 1978. Created by writer John Wagner and artist Ian Gibson, the series followed the adventures of Sam Slade, a grizzled private investigator tasked with hunting down rogue robots in a satire-heavy future. Issue 13 of the standalone Robo-Hunter series continued the tradition of blending gritty noir tropes with the irreverent, slapstick humor that defined 2000 AD's unique editorial voice.

The visual identity of Robo-Hunter was firmly established by Ian Gibson, whose distinctive, highly detailed line work brought the cluttered and chaotic aesthetic of the future to life. His character design for Sam Slade—often featuring a robotic sidekick and an array of absurd gadgets—helped ground the zany narrative in a consistent physical world. The series was well-received by readers for its cynical wit and remains a cult classic among British comics enthusiasts for its contribution to the medium's creative golden age.
