Where it came from
Sayonara Watashi no Cramer, or Farewell, My Dear Cramer, was authored by Naoshi Arakawa and serialized in Monthly Shonen Magazine from 2016 to 2020. The series explores the world of high school girls' soccer, focusing on the aspirations and struggles of its protagonists as they pursue excellence in a sport that was underrepresented in the shonen manga landscape at the time. Arakawa, known for his ability to weave emotional depth into youth sports stories, aimed to portray the technical intensity of soccer alongside the personal growth of the players.
The twelfth volume serves as a significant installment in the latter half of the series, continuing the narrative trajectory of the Warabi Seinan High School team. Arakawa’s character designs are noted for their dynamic energy during match sequences and their subtle, expressive character work in quieter moments. Upon its release, the volume was received by fans of the series as a consistent continuation of the themes established early on, maintaining the series' reputation for balancing athletic realism with the camaraderie and pressures of competitive student athletics.
