Secret Origins #46

Secret Origins #46 was published by DC Comics in December 1989, serving as a late-run entry in a series dedicated to retelling the definitive origin stories of various comic book characters. During this era, the series focused on updating classic silver age narratives for a more modern, psychologically grounded audience. This specific issue is notable for its exploration of the origins of the Justice League of America, providing readers with a consolidated perspective on the team's formation within the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths DC Universe continuity.

The issue features work by writer Mark Waid, who was beginning to establish his reputation for deep knowledge of comic book history, and artist Curt Swan, a legend renowned for his decades of work on the Superman titles. The aesthetic sought to bridge the gap between the nostalgic roots of the characters and the evolving editorial direction of the late eighties. The issue was received as a competent, reliable retrospective that functioned as a vital reference point for readers navigating the complex timeline shifts of that period.
