Secret Origins #9

Secret Origins #9 was published by DC Comics in December 1986 as part of the publisher's post-Crisis on Infinite Earths effort to redefine and consolidate its vast continuity. This specific issue is notable for presenting the modernized origin stories of two prominent characters, the Golden Age Green Lantern, Alan Scott, and the Golden Age Hawkman, Carter Hall. It served as a bridge between the classic roots of these characters and the updated narrative requirements of the DC Universe during the mid-1980s.

The issue features work by writers Roy Thomas and Dann Thomas, with art provided by Arvell Jones and Vince Colletta. Roy Thomas, known for his deep reverence for comic book history, aimed to integrate the legacies of the Justice Society of America into the contemporary timeline while maintaining the spirit of the original 1940s narratives. The design and storytelling approach were well-received by fans of traditional comic lore, as the title itself became a vital resource for readers attempting to navigate the complex restructuring of DC's history during that era.
