Shita no Kai ni Sundeiru Hikikomori Bishōjo wa Ōte Jimusho no Shinjin VTuber Deshita #1

Shita no Kai ni Sundeiru Hikikomori Bishōjo wa Ōte Jimusho no Shinjin VTuber Deshita, or The Shut-in Beauty Living Below Me Was a Rookie VTuber for a Major Agency, is a light novel series written by Bando with illustrations by Kakao Lanthanum. The first volume was published by SB Creative under their GA Bunko imprint, a label known for its focus on lighthearted, character-driven stories often centered on contemporary subcultures like streaming and online content creation.

The series emerged during the height of the VTuber boom, reflecting the increasing integration of virtual idol culture into mainstream Japanese media. The design and narrative tone lean into the 'romantic comedy' genre, contrasting the reclusive, domestic life of the protagonist with the high-energy, performative nature of the VTuber industry. The illustrations by Kakao Lanthanum are characteristic of modern light novel aesthetic, emphasizing soft character designs and expressive, anime-inspired imagery to appeal to a demographic interested in internet-based character tropes.
