Where it came from
The Sigurd Geburtstags-Edition represents a commemorative revival of the iconic German comic strip hero Sigurd, a medieval knight created by Hansrudi Wäscher in 1953. Originally serialized in the popular Piccolo and Großband formats, the character defined the adventure comic landscape of post-war West Germany, blending swashbuckling heroics with a distinct, clean-lined illustrative style that defined the Lehning Verlag era.
This specific anniversary edition was curated to celebrate the enduring legacy of Wäscher's creation, reissuing classic narratives for a new generation of collectors. The design intentionally leans into the nostalgia of the original 1950s aesthetic, maintaining the bold black-and-white ink work that established Sigurd as a cultural fixture, while providing high-quality archival presentation for long-time enthusiasts of the German comic tradition.
