Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Echoes of the Empire #1

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Echoes of the Empire #1 was released in 2019 as a promotional tie-in comic book to celebrate the opening of the immersive Galaxy's Edge themed lands at the Disney Parks. The series was designed to deepen the narrative lore of Batuu, the fictional outpost where the theme park experience is set, and to provide guests with a tangible piece of storytelling that bridges the gap between the parks and the broader Star Wars cinematic universe.

The issue was written by Ethan Sacks and illustrated by Will Sliney, creators known for their work within the Star Wars comic canon. Their design objective was to capture the atmosphere of the Black Spire Outpost, blending traditional comic book aesthetics with the specific architectural and character details developed by Imagineers for the park. It was received as a functional marketing tool for enthusiasts, serving as an entry point for fans eager to understand the history of the locations they were visiting in real life.
