Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Echoes of the Empire #2

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Echoes of the Empire was published by Marvel Comics in 2019 to coincide with the grand opening of the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge themed lands at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland. The series was designed as a tie-in narrative, crafted to flesh out the lore of the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu, serving as a gateway for park visitors to understand the history of the artifacts and characters they might encounter while exploring the physical environment.

The issue features writing by Ethan Sacks and artwork by Will Sliney, who were tasked with blending traditional Star Wars mythos with the specific grounded aesthetic of the theme park's immersive storytelling. The creative team aimed to bridge the gap between the film franchise and the interactive park experience, providing a backstory for the mysterious antiquities dealer Dok-Ondar. The series was generally well-received by fans of the franchise for its ability to expand the depth of the Batuu setting without feeling like a mere promotional pamphlet.
