Supplément de Zorro #55

The Supplément de Zorro series was a long-running French comic publication, primarily released during the mid-20th century, which sought to bring the adventures of the masked vigilante to a European audience. These issues were typically published in a modest, black-and-white or limited-color digest format, catering to the burgeoning demand for serialized action stories among younger readers. They functioned as a bridge between the American pulp serials and the European tradition of bande dessinée, focusing on accessible, heroic narratives.

The design of these supplements followed the conventions of the era's kiosk-distributed comics, featuring dynamic, often dramatic cover illustrations designed to catch a reader’s eye on a newsstand. The content featured a blend of translated American material and original European-produced content that leaned into the established Zorro iconography. While often treated as ephemeral reading material at the time, these issues are now recognized as important artifacts of the post-war French comic industry, reflecting the era's fascination with imported Western archetypes.
