Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla #4

Released in 2024, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla #4 serves as the conclusion to a high-profile crossover miniseries published by IDW Publishing. The series was born from the strategic partnership between IDW, which holds the long-running license for TMNT comics, and Toho International, allowing for an expansive narrative that integrates the heroes in a half-shell into the legendary kaiju universe. The story was written by Erik Burnham and illustrated by Dan Schoening, who aimed to blend the colorful, energetic tone of the Mirage-inspired Turtles with the high-stakes, city-leveling spectacle inherent to the Godzilla franchise.

The creative direction focuses on the aesthetic contrast between the agile, martial-arts-oriented Turtles and the massive, indestructible nature of Godzilla. By placing characters like Donatello and Leonardo against titans such as Mechagodzilla, the design team sought to honor the iconography of both properties while maintaining a cohesive visual language. Upon release, the series was received as a fun, fan-service-driven narrative that successfully balanced the whimsical nature of the Turtles' rogues' gallery with the classic destructive motifs of the Godzilla cinematic lore.
