The Amazing Spider-Man #120

The Amazing Spider-Man #120, published by Marvel Comics in May 1973, arrived during a period of transition for the title under writer Gerry Conway. This issue continues the tense, high-stakes narrative following the death of Gwen Stacy, shifting the focus toward the complex emotional aftermath and the ongoing threat posed by the Hulk. It represents a classic era of Marvel storytelling that leaned heavily into soap-opera dramatics and high-action crossover spectacles.

The interior artwork was penciled by Gil Kane and inked by John Romita Sr., a legendary pairing that defined much of the Spider-Man aesthetic in the early 1970s. The cover, featuring a dynamic confrontation between Spider-Man and the Hulk, was illustrated by John Romita Sr., who captured the visceral power disparity between the two characters. At the time of its release, the issue was well-received by readers for its blockbuster crossover appeal and its commitment to maintaining the grounded, character-driven stakes established in the preceding months.
