The Bone Orchard Mythos: Tenement #1

Tenement #1 serves as the inaugural issue of the second major narrative arc within The Bone Orchard Mythos, an expansive, interconnected horror universe created by Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino. Published by Image Comics, the series emerged from the creative partnership that previously produced acclaimed works like Gideon Falls, aiming to craft a sprawling, atmospheric anthology of standalone graphic novels and limited series centered on a shared, unsettling mythology.

The aesthetic of the series is defined by Andrea Sorrentino’s signature illustrative style, which utilizes intricate paneling, heavy ink work, and stark lighting to evoke a sense of claustrophobia and dread. Lemire’s writing focuses on the psychological decay of the residents within the titular building, intentionally blending character-driven drama with supernatural terror. Upon its release, the series was received as a sophisticated expansion of the horror genre, praised for its cohesive world-building and the distinctive visual continuity established across the broader Bone Orchard project.
