The Books of Magic #10

The Books of Magic #10, released in 1994, serves as a pivotal entry in the ongoing narrative established by Neil Gaiman’s original four-issue miniseries. Published under DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, the series was designed to explore the magical underpinnings of the DC Universe through the perspective of Timothy Hunter, a young boy destined to become the world's most powerful mage. This issue continued the darker, more mature tone that defined Vertigo’s brand during the mid-nineties.

The creative direction for this period of the series was led by writer John Ney Rieber and artist Peter Gross. Their collaboration focused on grounding Timothy Hunter's supernatural journey within the emotional complexities of adolescence. The series was generally well-received by fans of the dark fantasy genre, who appreciated how it expanded upon Gaiman's foundation while maintaining a distinct visual and thematic consistency that characterized the Vertigo lineup of the era.
