The Books of Magic #41

The Books of Magic issue #41 was published in 1997 as part of the ongoing Vertigo imprint series. Following Neil Gaiman's original miniseries, the monthly title continued to follow Timothy Hunter, a young boy destined to become the world's most powerful magician. This era of the series was characterized by a shift toward more grounded, coming-of-age narrative themes within a dark fantasy framework, reflecting the publisher's push to explore complex moral dilemmas through their burgeoning supernatural line.

This issue featured the creative work of writer John Ney Rieber and interior artist Peter Gross. Gross, whose clean yet atmospheric style became synonymous with the visual identity of the series, focused on capturing the psychological weight of Timothy’s journey. At the time of its release, the series was well-regarded by critics for its consistency and for its role in expanding the Vertigo universe, maintaining a dedicated readership that valued the title's departure from traditional superhero tropes.
