Where it came from
Published in 1997 by DC Comics under the Vertigo imprint, this issue is part of the long-running series centered on Timothy Hunter, a young boy destined to become the world's greatest sorcerer. The series evolved from Neil Gaiman’s original 1990 miniseries into an ongoing monthly title that explored the darker, more complex corners of the DC magical universe.
This specific issue features writing by Peter Gross and artwork by Dean Ormston. The creative team aimed to maintain the series' signature blend of contemporary coming-of-age themes with arcane mythology. Like many titles from this era of Vertigo, the book was noted for its introspective tone and distinct, stylized visual direction, which helped establish the mature-readers aesthetic that defined the imprint during the mid-nineties.
