The Fury of Firestorm #17

The Fury of Firestorm #17 was published by DC Comics in November 1983 as part of the character's first ongoing solo series. Created by Gerry Conway and Al Milgrom, Firestorm had gained significant popularity following his introduction in 1978, leading to this title which explored the complex duality of the nuclear-powered hero. This specific era of the book is noted for its character-driven narrative and the continued development of the relationship between Ronnie Raymond and Professor Martin Stein, who shared the single Firestorm entity.

The cover and interior art for this period were heavily influenced by the distinct house style of early 1980s DC Comics, prioritizing dynamic action sequences while grounding the story in the everyday life of the protagonist. Readers of the time responded well to the series' balance of adolescent drama and global superhero threats, helping the book establish a stable readership during a highly competitive decade for the comic industry. The issue remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors interested in the evolution of the Firestorm mythos during the Bronze Age of comics.
