The Ice Guy & the Cool Girl #1

The Ice Guy and the Cool Girl, known in Japan as Koori Zokusei Danshi to Cool na Douryou Joshi, began as a collection of short social media comics authored by Miyuki Tonogaya. Debuting on Twitter in 2018, the series follows Himuro, a descendant of a snow spirit, and his stoic coworker Fuyutsuki. The work originated from Tonogaya's interest in exploring the charming, awkward contrast between a character who accidentally freezes his surroundings when experiencing emotion and a colleague who remains unfazed by his supernatural outbursts.

The first volume of the collected manga was officially published in 2019, transitioning the web-based vignettes into a structured print format. Tonogaya’s design focuses on a clean, light-hearted aesthetic that highlights the evolving rapport between the protagonists. Upon its release, the series was well-received for its gentle, slice-of-life tone, eventually leading to a broader franchise that includes a dedicated anime adaptation and a loyal following drawn to its low-stakes, humorous portrayal of workplace romance.
