The Illustrated Al: The Songs of "Weird Al" Yankovic #1

The Illustrated Al: The Songs of "Weird Al" Yankovic was released in 1994 by Personality Comics as a multi-issue anthology series. It was designed to capitalize on Yankovic's established success as a parody artist, with each issue adapting a specific song into a comic strip format. This specific endeavor reflected the mid-nineties trend of comic book companies licensing the likenesses of popular music icons for niche collector audiences.

The series featured contributions from various artists and writers tasked with visually interpreting the absurdity and satire inherent in Yankovic's discography. While the series achieved a degree of cult status among his fanbase, it was generally viewed at the time as a novelty publication. The illustrative style typically leaned toward caricature, aiming to replicate the comedic tone of the songs through stylized, often exaggerated panels.
