The Incredible Hulk #320

The Incredible Hulk #320, published in June 1986, arrived during a transitional period for the character under the guidance of writer Al Milgrom. This issue served as a critical chapter in the 'Hulk-Killer' arc, focusing on the complex internal conflict of Bruce Banner as he struggled to maintain control over his gamma-irradiated persona. The narrative reflects the mid-1980s editorial push to explore the psychological toll of the Hulk's existence, shifting away from simple monster-of-the-week tropes toward a deeper, more serialized character study.

The cover and interior art by Al Milgrom defined the aesthetic of this era, characterized by a detailed, grounded illustrative style that prioritized the emotional weight of the protagonist. Readers of the time noted the issue for its integration into the broader Marvel Universe continuity and its commitment to the long-standing status quo of Banner's burden. While not always cited as a standalone turning point, the issue remains a recognized example of the mid-80s creative direction that sought to humanize Marvel's most destructive anti-hero.
