The Infinity Gauntlet #5

The Infinity Gauntlet #5, published in 1991, serves as the penultimate chapter of the seminal Marvel Comics limited series written by Jim Starlin. Starlin, known for his deep exploration of cosmic themes, crafted the narrative to explore themes of omnipotence and hubris through the character of Thanos, who had gathered the Infinity Gems to reshape reality. The series emerged during a period of creative experimentation for Marvel, marking one of the most high-stakes crossovers of the era.

The interior art was provided by Ron Lim, whose clean, dynamic style helped define the look of cosmic Marvel throughout the early nineties. Tasked with illustrating the climactic confrontation between Thanos and the collective forces of the universe, Lim balanced intricate character designs with the immense scale of the plot. Upon its release, the series was received with significant critical and commercial enthusiasm, solidifying the Infinity Gauntlet as an enduring cornerstone of the Marvel canon and an influential blueprint for subsequent cosmic storytelling.
