Where it came from
Published by Marvel Comics in 1991, The Infinity Gauntlet #1 serves as the opening chapter of a seminal six-part miniseries written by Jim Starlin. Starlin, who had long been the primary architect of the character Thanos, crafted this narrative to explore the concept of ultimate power following Thanos's resurrection and his subsequent quest to court the physical manifestation of Death by gathering the six Infinity Gems.
The visual identity of the series was established by pencilers George Pérez and Ron Lim. Pérez was initially brought on for his ability to handle sprawling ensembles and cosmic scale, aiming to deliver a sense of overwhelming spectacle that grounded the high-stakes existential threat. Upon its release, the issue and the subsequent series were met with significant critical and commercial success, effectively cementing the Infinity Gauntlet as an enduring icon of modern comic book mythology.
