The New Adventures of Superboy #47

The New Adventures of Superboy issue 47 was published by DC Comics in November 1983 as part of an ongoing series that explored the adolescence of Clark Kent in Smallville. During this era, the creative direction often balanced the character's development as a teenager with traditional superhero tropes, reflecting a transition period for DC titles before the major continuity shifts of the mid-1980s.

This specific issue features work by writer Paul Kupperberg and artist Kurt Schaffenberger, a veteran illustrator known for his long-standing and clean, classic approach to the Superman mythos. The narrative focus on young Clark’s experiences with his peers and local antagonists was designed to ground the fantastical hero in a relatable suburban setting, a staple of the Superboy brand that resonated with long-term readers of the Bronze Age of comics.
