The Occult Files Of Dr. Spektor #5

The Occult Files of Dr. Spektor debuted in 1973 under Gold Key Comics, arriving at a time when the Comics Code Authority had loosened its restrictions on horror-themed content. Created by writer Donald F. Glut and artist Dan Spiegle, the series focused on Adam Spektor, a paranormal investigator who traveled the globe to solve supernatural mysteries. Issue number five continued this established formula, blending gothic atmosphere with the distinctive, clean-lined adventure aesthetic that defined the publisher's output during the Bronze Age.

Dan Spiegle's work on the series is often cited by collectors for its readability and cinematic pacing, which helped the character stand out in a saturated market of anthology-style horror titles. While Dr. Spektor never achieved the same cultural ubiquity as the major superhero icons of the era, the series gained a dedicated cult following for its earnest, well-researched approach to folklore and occult tropes. The design choices, characterized by grounded human figures set against otherworldly threats, aimed to bridge the gap between classic monster magazines and traditional superhero action.
