The Pink Panther #35

The Pink Panther #35 was published in 1978 as part of Gold Key Comics' long-running adaptation of the popular theatrical shorts created by Friz Freleng and Blake Edwards. During the late 1970s, Gold Key maintained a steady output of licensed humor titles that leaned into the physical comedy and whimsical visual gags established by the animated films and the subsequent Saturday morning cartoon series.

The interior artwork for the Gold Key series typically involved a collaborative studio effort to mimic the recognizable aesthetic of the DePatie-Freleng Enterprises character designs. While individual credited artists were rare in these mass-market publications, the issue reflects the era's focus on simple, episodic storytelling intended for a younger readership. It remains a classic example of the comic book tie-in culture that expanded the reach of television and film franchises during the mid-to-late twentieth century.
