Tougen Anki: La Leyenda de la Sangre Maldita #1

Tougen Anki: La Leyenda de la Sangre Maldita is a dark fantasy manga series created by Yura Urushibara, which began serialization in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion in 2020. The story reimagines the Japanese folktale of Momotaro, presenting the legendary figure as an antagonist in a world where descendants of oni and humans are locked in a violent, centuries-old conflict. The narrative centers on Shiki Ichinose, a young man who discovers his oni heritage, setting off an action-oriented exploration of identity and morality.

Urushibara’s artistic style is characterized by aggressive linework and a high-energy aesthetic that reflects the series' focus on combat and supernatural conflict. The design choices emphasize visceral character transformations and a bleak, gritty atmosphere to distinguish it from more traditional shonen fare. Since its debut, the series has garnered a dedicated following for its subversive take on established folklore, eventually leading to its international distribution, including this Spanish-language edition published by Panini Manga.
