Where it came from
Touken Ranbu: Nihongō Tsurezure-Zake is a specialized publication centered on the Nihongō sword, one of the famous 'Three Great Spears' of Japan, as re-imagined in the popular Touken Ranbu franchise. This issue, the second in its series, serves as a thematic companion for fans of the sword's personified character, offering a mix of historical context regarding the actual spear and creative content derived from the game's lore.
The publication follows the established aesthetic of Nitroplus and DMM Games' multimedia project, which anthropomorphizes historic Japanese blades into warriors. The design is intended to satisfy a niche audience of history enthusiasts and franchise followers by bridging the gap between museum-grade historical inquiry and the character-driven narrative of the game, ultimately receiving attention for its focused dedication to a single, iconic weapon.
