Uncanny X-Men Coloring Book #1

The Uncanny X-Men Coloring Book, released in the early 1980s during the height of the X-Men's resurgence under Chris Claremont and John Byrne, was produced as part of the broader merchandising push to capitalize on the team's massive popularity. Published by Marvel Comics, these activity books were intended to engage a younger demographic of readers who had discovered the mutants through their monthly serial adventures.

The illustrations typically adhered to the house style of the era, simplifying the complex line work of artists like Dave Cockrum or John Byrne into bold, open outlines suitable for coloring. While these books were widely distributed in toy stores and newsstands, they were viewed primarily as ephemeral tie-ins rather than collector items, reflecting a design ethos focused on accessibility and recreation for children.
