Vampire Dormitory #5

Vampire Dormitory, created by manga artist Ema Toyama, began its serialization in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine in 2018. The series follows the life of Mito Yamamoto, a girl who disguises herself as a boy to live in an all-male dormitory, only to discover that her roommate, Ruka, is a vampire who prefers her blood. As the fifth installment in the series, this volume continues to explore the blend of gothic romance and school-life comedy that has become a hallmark of Toyama's style, appealing to readers who enjoy shojo manga with supernatural elements and complex, evolving relationships.

The aesthetic of the series is heavily influenced by classic gothic tropes reimagined through a modern shojo lens, featuring character designs that prioritize expressive, emotive eyes and elaborate costuming. Ema Toyama is known for her prolific output and her ability to subvert traditional gender roles within her narratives. Volume 5 maintains the established visual tone of the series, balancing comedic timing with dramatic tension. Upon its release, the volume contributed to the overall success of the franchise, which has been well-received by fans of the genre for its lighthearted yet compelling take on vampire mythology.
