Venom: The Madness #2

Venom: The Madness #2 was published by Marvel Comics in 1993 as the second installment of a three-part limited series. This title emerged during a period of peak popularity for the character, capitalizing on the anti-hero's transition from Spider-Man antagonist to a standalone protagonist in the early 1990s. The narrative explores Venom's psychological struggles and his symbiotic relationship, reflecting the dark, gritty aesthetic common to Marvel's releases during that era.

The series features writing by Ann Nocenti and interior artwork by Kelley Jones, whose distinctive, exaggerated style—characterized by elongated forms and shadow-heavy panels—was instrumental in defining the tone of the story. Jones's work on this project was intentionally surreal, aiming to visualize the chaotic mental state of the symbiote. The series remains a notable example of 1990s comic book experimentalism, often discussed by fans for its divergence from standard superhero visual conventions.
