Venus Wars #3

Venus Wars, or Venus Senki, was originally serialized in the Japanese magazine Gakken Comic Nora starting in 1987. Created by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the manga is set in a future where humans have colonized Venus and become embroiled in a devastating planetary civil war. The series is celebrated for its grounded approach to science fiction, blending intense political intrigue with highly detailed mechanical design and dynamic character work.

Yasuhiko, a veteran animator famous for his character design work on Mobile Suit Gundam, applied a cinematic sensibility to the panels of Venus Wars. His art style in this series was noted for its fluid action sequences and expressive portrayals of the harsh life on the terraformed planet. Issue #3 represents a key point in the expansion of the conflict, maintaining the series' reputation for high-stakes storytelling that ultimately led to a widely distributed animated feature film adaptation in 1989.
