Venus Wars #5

Venus Wars #5 is part of the original manga series written and illustrated by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. First serialized in Gakken's Monthly Comic Nora starting in 1987, the series emerged during a period of significant creative experimentation in Japanese science fiction, blending heavy military hardware with the political and social tensions of a terraformed Venus. The story follows a group of young bike-racing rebels caught in a brutal war between two opposing planetary factions.

Yasuhiko, already highly regarded for his character design work on Mobile Suit Gundam, brought a cinematic eye to the panels of this series. The design language of Venus Wars #5 reflects his signature style, characterized by detailed mechanical draftsmanship and fluid character expressions. Upon its release, the series was well-received for its mature themes and visual sophistication, eventually leading to a prominent anime film adaptation in 1989 that further cemented the work as a notable entry in the late 1980s manga canon.
