Walt Disney Daisy and Donald #23

Walt Disney's Daisy and Donald, published by Dell Comics, emerged during the post-war era when Disney character-based comic books were expanding their reach through newsstands and drugstores. Issue number 23, released in the early 1950s, was part of a broader push to capitalize on the popularity of the Donald Duck universe by pairing him with Daisy Duck, whose character was evolving from a one-off archetype into a more consistent supporting lead in the Disney comic canon.

The interior art and narratives for these issues were produced by the legendary team at Western Publishing, which held the licensing rights for Disney comics at the time. The creative direction generally mirrored the aesthetic established by the Disney animation studios, emphasizing accessible, lighthearted slapstick humor and domestic scenarios. These comics were intended for a mass audience of children and were mass-produced on inexpensive pulp paper, prioritizing broad appeal over long-term archival quality.
