Wonder Woman #17

Wonder Woman number 17 was published in 1946 by DC Comics during the golden age of comic books. At this time, the series was heavily influenced by the vision of creator William Moulton Marston, who utilized the character to explore themes of empowerment and psychological archetypes. This issue emerged during a period when the artistic direction was defined by H.G. Peter, whose distinctive, classical-inspired illustration style gave the character her signature look and set the tone for the series' early mythological storytelling.

The issue fits into the wider tapestry of mid-1940s comic production, where narrative focus often shifted between domestic themes and fantastical wartime adventures. H.G. Peter’s work on the title was well-regarded for its unique aesthetic, which stood apart from the more conventional superhero art of the era. Like much of the series' output from this period, the issue is remembered today as a vital component of early comic history, reflecting the evolution of the medium's approach to female protagonists and the enduring creative partnership between Marston and Peter.
