Wonder Woman #221

Wonder Woman #221 was published in late 1975 during a pivotal transitional era for the title. Following the mid-1970s period where the character had been stripped of her powers and costume, the series was navigating a return to more traditional superhero tropes. This issue represents a moment where the creative team sought to balance the legacy of the Golden Age with the contemporary sensibilities of the Bronze Age of comic books.

The issue features cover art by legendary illustrator Dick Giordano, whose clean, crisp line work was highly influential during this time at DC Comics. The narrative continues to explore the character's integration into the wider DC Universe, reflecting the editorial direction of the era which prioritized cosmic stakes and character-driven mystery. It remains a notable example of the mid-70s aesthetic that helped stabilize Wonder Woman's identity after the character's controversial departure from her classic persona.
